When it comes to making the perfect home brew, most of us are too lazy, too tired, or too uninterested to really take the time to get things right. Drinking coffee out can seem so much more appealing when you take into account weighing beans, heating water, brewing and resting your drink. It turns out, however, that you just might not have had all of the right information. While the perfect home brew does take a little figuring out, it is something that you can quickly incorporate into your daily routine and before long, you might not even have the need to venture out to your local cafe. Want to have the perfect cup of joe everyday? It’s time to get brewing.

Buy a cafetiere

As one of the most gentle ways to brew a cup of coffee, the humble cafetiere is an instrument that all of the real aficionados are using. Heating the ground beans ever so gently, the cafetiere allows the brew to keep all its essential oils and flavor, giving you a better all around bang for your buck. Pre-heating your cafetiere before you brew your coffee helps to keep the flavor balanced and your cup hotter for longer.

Stir it up

When you get around to brewing your perfect cup, it pays to help the beans infuse in the hot water, so once you’ve poured hot water over your coffee, give it all a good mix to allow the flavors to incorporate. Stirring will help to release essential oils within your beans, giving you an all-round better taste.

Take your time

When it comes to the perfect cafetiere experience, it’s all about timing. Leaving your beans to brew a specific amount of time can really change the flavor of the coffee and the strength of the caffeine. While you might wish to experiment with timings, leaving the drink to brew for around 3 and a half minutes should leave you with a well rounded and smooth flavor. If you find you want it more or less strong, you can try adapting the time to see what works for you.

Keep a store

How you keep your beans is just as important as what you do with them when they’re ready for brewing, so finding the perfect spot in your kitchen is paramount. Keeping them in a refrigerator is possibly the worst thing that you can do as the cold air will dry out the beans, taking with it their rich flavor. The best tastes last within 10 days of roasting, so make sure you drink it up quick!

Home brewed coffee can be some of the best that you’ve ever tasted and as long as you take your time about it at first, it’s very easy to get a cup to rival your favorite cafe’s. Bad beans, be gone!
